Gramercy Park Residence III
A complete architectural renovation and combination of two apartments into one residence. The need for the hybrid use of spaces, typical in city environments, drove the design concept: the kitchen also functions as a study, the library becomes a guest bedroom in the evening, and the dressing room opens to be a writer's enclave. These transformations are revealed with specialized detailing: kitchen cabinets hide stereo equipment, the library day bed contains a trundle bed, and the closet opens to expose a desk. The parti called out three large public rooms to display an extensive and varied collection of Bauhaus furniture, Prague paintings, and Viennese glassware, with a more discrete bedroom contained behind the dressing room.
